OBSERVATION
Branding isn’t about you
When I first started to seriously commit time to consuming and learning about marketing, I made a huge mistake. I organized “branding” differently than “marketing’. In my mind, marketing was all about client needs. Branding was all about me and my story. Oops.
Branding begins with your coaching philosophy - however, it’s not mutually exclusive to client needs. A strong brand positions itself within the biggest needs of your clients. Your unique perspectives within context of the client experience.
Side note - This is also why if you are trying to work with many different groups, you need to think very carefully for how this fits so it doesn’t become too generalized
ACTIONABLE IDEA
Use your presentations as idea generators for branding yourself
As you look to establish your brand, you may already be getting practice without even realizing it. Every time you present a topic and you play with the “title” to make it more applied for your group, you are developing branding and marketing skills.
Review your presentations
Look at the challenges you were addressing
Reflect on your beliefs towards those challenges
You can now begin to look at how you are positioning your brand publicly within context of client needs. Establishing a core coaching philosophy is still necessary, but this can be another fun way of looking at how we can more effectively brand our style without losing the context of the client.

I've recently been reading through Donald Miller's book, How to Grow your Small Business. He makes a really helpful point that when we are marketing/selling we have to help the person buying be the hero, that by saying yes to what we have we can guide them to a better life. But ultimately it is about them and what they want not us.
