OBSERVATION
We treat our services like a race instead of focusing on value
After listening to a recent podcast with Seth Godin, it brough back a memory of when I was having a conversation about a year ago with a mentee in which we discussed competition. The reality is that we are not competing with each other. We are competing with sneakers. Are we providing them something more valuable than where there money currently goes? Not whether or not mental health or mental performance is important. However, that is the reality for most consultants. We spend too much time comparing ourselves to our colleagues and not enough time learning from the market (a.k.a - our intended audience). Resulting in increased difficulty, standing out.
Standing out is about finding a small, focused audience and being relentless in supporting that niche through shared values and empathetic support options. Getting better and better over time. Becoming remarkable is now possible.

Focus on developing empathy with “a audience”
Since we are in a service industry, for most of us we have preferred audiences. So, let’s start here. It’s an impossible task to be an expert to every audience, so what are your opportunities to go from good to remarkable? Use the reflection questions below to get started:
