QUOTE
Trust isn’t built in big moments, but in the small ones

OBSERVATION
In a field where we preach the importance of “buy-in” and “trust”, I am consistently reminded of the power of small moments. When we take care of the little things, that is when trust starts to take shape. And more to the point, when we take care of the relationship around those little things, we can really do some powerful things.
Examples of how I was reminded of this in 2024…
I was not asked once about my degree or certification
My most enjoyable contract work was when I was in full collaboration with my client groups. We designed everything together.
Less is always more. One concept integrated well was far more impactful.
I don’t need to be everything to everyone. My relationships blossomed when I narrowed my focus and scaled back.
THE PATH AHEAD
Get back to the little things. Specifically around how you manage relationships. That’s the power of our work, whether in business or working for a company.
If you say you are going to do something, complete the task and follow-thru (this builds credibility)
Don’t try and do too much. Be patient and take your time.
When deciding interventions
When trying to secure contract work
When trying to build trust and buy-in
I would love to hear from you all on this one. What was some of your lessons from 2024?
